What to expect
Entering into a therapy or counseling process can feel foreign, even scary. Whether you are beginning to work with us as an individual, couple or a family, it is important that you feel relaxed and safe. Here is what you can expect:

It has likely taken a great deal of courage to reach out for help. It is our goal to make you feel safe and relaxed as you navigate these next steps. When you call the Center for Relational Excellence, Paula, our Practice Administrator, will greet you. She will talk with you about the type of services you are seeking, our fees, office location and scheduling. She will direct you to complete a short Discovery Questionnaire so Dr. Regier can learn more about the services you are seeking.
After receiving the Discovery Questionnaire, Paula will set up a series of appointments, or add you to the waiting list if appropriate.
For couples therapy, individual sessions are set up for each member of the couple. In addition, two couples sessions are scheduled – one to assess the couple’s relational dynamics and a second couples session to discuss a recommended treatment plan moving forward.
Generally we see couples on a weekly or every-other-week basis. Though not always practical, we attempt to lock in repeating appointment times. We have found that the commitment and accountability to that time slot is a positive piece of the therapy or counseling process.
For individual therapy, we’ll set up two initial sessions prior to a treatment planning session.
Paula will send you links for registration as well as a link to complete and submit your intake paperwork online. Appointments will not be confirmed until registration and intake paperwork has been received. If you have any questions, Paula will be happy to walk you through the process.
All sessions are 50 minutes. When working with new couples Dr. Regier has individual sessions with each member of the couple prior to the first couples session. He sees couples on a weekly or bi-weekly basis as mutually agreed upon. Session frequency can change as the work progresses.
Dr. Regier’s fee is $250 for each 50-minute session. We take full payment at the time of each session. We do not contract with or bill any insurance companies. However, we will provide you with a statement (Super Bill) that you may submit to your insurance carrier for applicable reimbursement.
Your appointment time is reserved for you! If you do not show up for your scheduled therapy appointment, and you have not notified us at least 48 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the full cost of the session. Notice of cancellation for Monday or Tuesday sessions is required on the previous Friday.
