I Want to Communicate Better and Show Up With Care

“I want to be better at my relationship.” Relationship counseling can begin with that intention. You may want to listen more closely, speak about your feelings with confidence, or understand why certain conversations leave you defensive or distant. Dr. Regier works with individuals and couples who are ready to reflect on their own patterns and practice more thoughtful ways of relating. You do not have to wait for a crisis to invest in your growth.

Build Relationship Habits Through Self-Reflection and Communication

Start with the questions you can explore: What am I feeling? What do I need? How do I respond when I feel misunderstood? With guidance, you can practice expressing those needs, listening to another perspective, and approaching topics such as money, intimacy, faith, and family with greater care. Your growth includes both personal responsibility and respectful boundaries. Individual therapy offers a place to begin on your own, while seminars and retreats offer opportunities to ask about learning in a group setting.

Meet Dr. Michael Regier – Relationship expert and educator

As a relationship expert, Dr. Regier has taught relationship foundations to a broad population – individuals, couples, physicians, therapists, business and church leaders. He has taught soul health seminars and pre-marital foundations to large groups and churches, and relationship principles to men’s small groups. With the writing of their book on Emotional Connection, he and his wife, Paula have created an online course teaching relationship foundations, concepts and principles to the general population.

Let’s work together

Dr. Michael Regier offers Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) for partners who want to understand their emotional patterns and communicate with greater openness. He sees San Luis Obispo County clients in-person in his Los Osos, California office. In addition, he serves clients throughout California online. Each partner is invited to reflect on their own reactions, name their needs clearly, and listen with curiosity. The focus is on the changes you can practice together: emotional presence, mutual respect, and more thoughtful responses during difficult conversations.

“I want to understand myself.” “I want to communicate better.” Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) offers space to explore the feelings and relationship patterns behind those goals. Dr. Regier works with you to notice what happens when you become overwhelmed, express your needs more clearly, and practice responses that reflect the person you want to be. You can begin individual work without a partner attending.

Depth Therapy was created by the psychiatrist Carl Jung. Depth Therapy is ideal for individuals who are ready to do a deep dive into hidden feelings and memories that influence relationships, well-being, and living into your peak potential. An essential goal of depth therapy is what Jung called individuation, which involves integrating the different aspects of your personality into a unified whole, empowering you to become your best self.

Depth Therapy is ideal for people who have accomplished many life goals. They may have achieved a successful career and have a stable family life, but they still want to explore new paths for self-expression and contribution to the world.

This powerful method of psychotherapy uses techniques like dream analysis, journaling, active imagination, narrative therapy, and applying the meaning found in wisdom literature and mythology.Learn more here
